Resurrection and Spiritual Exercise

During the Easter season, have you encountered our Lord Jesus Christ? When webelieve in the resurrection of our Lord, we also believe that the soul is eternal. AfterJesus’ resurrection, He made multiple appearances to His disciples, raising theological questions concerning whether the resurrection signifies the soul’s capability to transcend time and space. But here our main concern is how this vital force cultivates our spiritual life.

The resurrection of Christ is not only about the hope for the future but also the affirmation of the present. The resurrection of Christ confirms that the power of evil is not greater than the power of good, evil has its limits and resurrection sets boundaries for it. Therefore, the resurrection of Christ leads us to believe that goodness is eternal, and all virtues will remain. Christian contemplative prayer is to enter into a relationship with God, to commune with God, to be like Christ, and to live like Christ. This relationship is the soul’s journey into God. Therefore, the purified spirit that we cultivate through spiritual exercise in this life, although temporary, will be preserved. Every moment of purification, good thoughts, and good deeds will be saved. Although we are still constrained by our human nature and trapped in evil, the resurrection of Christ leads us towards the light and transforms us. Through Christian practice, we can make our spirit not subject to the body, overcome our desires with love for the imperishable, and turn our lives toward goodness, pursuing and doing good deeds. Therefore, the glory of Christ’s resurrection guides us forward, as Paul said, “If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied. ” (1 Corinthians 15:19). Contemplative prayer awakens us to do good and to be good, bringing us into eternity in this life, because goodness is everlasting.

” So, my dear brothers and sisters, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord, because you know that your labour in the Lord is not in vain.” (1 Corinthians 15:58) ESV
